Where the subaru name comes from.
"SUBARU" is a Japanese word meaning "unite", as well as a term identifying a cluster of six stars, which the Greeks called the Pleiades - part of the Taurus constellation.
According to Greek mythology, Atlas' daughters turned into this group of stars. In 1953, five Japanese companies merged to form Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. The new corporation adopted the "Subaru" cluster of stars as the official logo for its line of automobiles. If it's a repost flame away :) i'll definately try my best to care. |

And when they can see the 7th, they can also see the 8th which is only a fraction of a magnitude less bright. The 7 Sisters are so named coz this number is an average of 6 & 8. Although Pleaides is a group, or open cluster of around 500 stars, only the 8 can be seen with the naked eye; beyond that it's telescope or binocular material. Now, you ALL wanted to know about this didn't you? |
