Lightbulb We may be getting the Jap Spec 2.5 STi with Forged Pistons. NOT THE USDM 2.5.

Spoke to my mate yesterday who works for one of the Subaru Dealerships. He said that we are getting the Jap Spec 2.5 with forged pistons. Apparently it is in the new STi brochure too. Would this make things better? How else is it a better engine?

forrester engine, its a start but I would love to know how subaru Aust does it's research regarding product improvement. Obviously a whole heap of gay reporters and 40yo Impreza "enthusists" moaned about the torque hole that is really a driver skill deficiency.

Had a look at the NZ subaru site yesterday, even their 05 sti (2.0L mind you) puts out 206kw and 402Nm on 96 ron.

oh well, I think I might have to take one for a test drive and see what I think.

besides the forresters, theres no other "jap spec" 2.5. and isnt that a bit of a downgrade for the wrxs and sti's? (sorry forrester owners :P) 2.5 is overrated!

It's still an STi and with forged pistons, 206 KW and 392 NM of torque and an excellent platform for a few nice simple mods Better than the USDM as far as internals? If so some will never be pleased.

Torque is almost the same and maybe our 206KW is really just "206" and understated.

I have heard a twin scroll rumour too? How about if that is true?

From a marketing perspective, I'm talking about when there is a discrepancy between what a person believes, knows and values, and persuasive information that calls these into question.

The discrepancy causes psychological discomfort, and the mind adjusts to reduce the discrepancy.

Your original statement seemed to reflect this, specifically the part "Will this make things better?"

Either way, I cant wait til the 06 STi comes out and debunks all the information thats flying around....when they come out, and people start buying and modding them, it'll be the real test.
