Default Changing Steering Wheel - Airbag To Aftermarket

I'm putting a Sparco Race wheel on my WRX, but as I guess removing the yatch sized stock one with the airbag, it becomes illegal (removing a air bag - standard safety feature).

Has anyone been stickered for not having a air bag? Is it something we can get picked on for?

Obviously some Police will sting you for it, others wouldn't know the difference. (Notice I call them Police, not pigs - As I joined the Force )

I wasn't asking that fool I was asking if anyone has been stickered for having a aftermarket one.

forget the legalities, make sure you get the right fit.

you need either an older hub pre97 or you cheat with an adaptor from autotechnica or momo and because its a sparco wheel you really need the quick release sparco boss (actually made by lifeline) in group n 6 x 70mm PCD steering wheel fitment for your sparco.

the steering wheel with the momo hub kit/spacer and quick release boss does make the wheel sit further back, which some people don't like.

photo of mine from a few years ago when i first went through all this.

If you do it, make sure you put a MoTeC MDD in it. If not, keep the stock one.

Cheers for that mate. Awesome info. What size was your wheel? I'm hate small wheels, and hate big ones. I'm unsure of the size I like, 330mm (Momo Race size).

How is the suede to drive with? Any problems with sun? Not that I care, I will just buy another if it cooks!

Found it. Sparco 323 Suede 330mm. So nice to drive with. Ash had one in his S13. Maddest wheel!

not long ago was looking through a "hot fords" (okay so im a fan) magazine i spotted an xd-f falcon with a AIM MXL dash on the steering wheel. now that's taking the piss.

if i had my time again i would just get the Pi X-Sport Dash for the steering wheel.

That looks cool, but I dunno bout the positioning? It'd feel weird having that there, I'm guessing thats the top of the wheel right?

my wheel is a sparco racer 2 330mm, grey alacantara with a blue boss. reason i went for this wheel is that it felt right in your hand and naturally was the only one in grey to match my seats. 330mm is quite small and i think perfect size, anything smaller and its go-kart time.

the alacantara feels awesome to touch. they do fade after a while and not because of the sun, but moreso, your hand sweat leaves them looking very ordinary.
