As for 30K for 99 Sti... lot of money. You're looking at technology that is almost 10 years old.

But it looks nice!

Aren't there any on the private market? I would pay no more than 27k. Remember it's a buyers market. Do a bit of research figure out what it's worth, compared to other similar models, make him an offer and walk if he won't play ball. Took me 4 months to find my 350z, so be patient. Oh and also consider buying interstate. I did that and saved $$$. It's not that much hassle either.

some of the prices im seeing for 99 stis are just rediculous, it may have 70,xxxks which is low for its age but its still an ageing car, for 30k you could pick up an 02 sti, get the 6 speed and better motor and its newer with better features. was looking at em all over aus and prices people are asking just baffle me. some guys were asking 28-29k over east for 99 sti's with 160k's++ on em!! just my opinion but i dont think classic stis are worth anythign near 30k anymore these days.
A 2 door sti maybe, but thats it, saw a 99 sti 2 door over east as well, bout 75,000ks on it, bog stock, wants bloody 55k for it!! tell him his dreaming

Yeah some people have no idea what their cars are worth. The woman I bought mine from wanted 55K for hers and it was exactly what I wanted, Track, Blue, manual 12000kms, but was overpriced. So I left it and kept on checking on autotrader to see if it had gone. 3 months later she sold it to me for 44k.

You could get a 02 sti from the east for 25,000-28,000

There was another with 230k for $23k as well.
Just make sure you get a mechanical check when buying interstate.
See below of a car which i was told was "IMMACULATE". I had the check done last week.

None here on the private market, been looking for about 1-2 months. I've been looking interstate but all the Sti's over there are $24k-$27k but have a tonne of KM on the clock. The ones with low KM's are around the $30k mark also, so it's less hassle to pick it up from ossie park and have the 3yr limited warranty for the same price and not fly over to Vic or NSW for a week.

It's a hassle for me because I don't know Melb. or Sydney at all, but the prcedure of transporting the car over seems simple enough.

No bug eye for me. Classic shape FTW~!

I didn't even see the car. Got a mechanics check, they faxed it over, I phoned them they said it was fine so I bought it. First time I saw it was when it arrived in Perth! Bit of a gamble I guess, but the woman was in her 50s and it was very low kms. Another things I did was went on carsales.com.au and texted about 30 guys offering the 3 - 5K off what they were advertising. Amazing how many agreed or at least came down over 2k from price.
