Why would they have it on display with an Australian Compliance plate if they didn't?

The only difference between the base STi & the R-spec is the Recaro's & BBS rims.

was told by City Subaru that the models coming in were pre-production Jap spec models, hence why question on the R-Spec.

Like Kato ive also been told there will be 2 versions. May go down Wed night for a look/drive.
