Default Change User Code (PIN)

Is it possible to change the User Code for the MY05 WRX?

I have found the following page but it's for UK models so I don't want to try it and break the immobiliser: http://bbs.scoobynet.com/archive/ind.../t-464810.html

Is that beacuse the memory needs to be re-flashed or because only they know the key sequence?

If it's the latter then I would have thought the `how to' information would have been leaked by now.

Hi,

Let's hope that information never becomes public knowledge?

Seriously?

Cheers,
Nik

Subaru do it so they can keep a record of the pin number in case you forget it. If you forget it, you can ring them up and they will tell you.

If you dont tell them the new one and you forget it or lose the piece of paper it's written on they have to remove the system from the car as far as I know and replace it with a new one.

Why not? In order to change your PIN you need to know your PIN so it's not like some gin of the street can simply change your PIN and steal your car, right?

If you forget your PIN, then Subaru can reflash the immobilser memory and re-issue you a new PIN. This is secure. Having someone else know my PIN (i.e. Subaru) is not secure because I can't control their information.

I asked about this a couple of months ago and they told me it would take about and hour and they would charge me a hour labour to do it.

Something to do with the master code that subaru has needs to be mached with your new code.
