Custom Rego Plates
Applied to DPI for custom Rego plates wanted OLDMANWRX on plate got a letter back from them, said could'nt have anything resembling a make or model of a vehicle, rule change came in end of Jan 2007, they did say that if i change the letter a to a mumber 4 it might just might get past, go figure that one.

Thats a load of crap.... :(
Would mean that guys that already have custom plates with WRX on it would be happy as surely that would increase the value of them if they were ever to sell them... but as you say i dont see how changing the A to a 4 would make a difference. |
even if it has a 4 instead of an 'a' it still has 'wrx' in it...

Wow.. thats a really shit law passed there! I guess because you already maxxed out with 9 characters, you cant really change it too much.. unless you go <OLDMANREX> ?
Overall, im suprised really with no plates to resemble a make or model..where's the fun in that! |

Write back and ask for a copy of the guidline which they are talking about.
Basically what they are saying is unreasonable and needs to be challenged. Given that there are hundreds of 3 letter acronyms for vehicles out there, it stands to reason that ANY number plate would be invalid. Just another way the govt is bending over to the corporate machine. NewsFlash: The govt will stop the sale of Apples in WA. This is to avoid copyright infringements with a well known computer manufacturer. Also, may be better to use a plate with your nickname. That way if you ever sell the wrx then you can keep the plates and you wont look like an idiot with a WRX plate on an EVO etc... |
