I`ve never seen one go off before in person let alone been in the car with one deploying..... can`t say I`d want to be sitting in the car after seeing what happens !

Scenario ;

Burnt out interior(03 sti), airbags not deployed, drivers steering wheel bag was damaged(burnt crispy) and pulled out of the wheel a bit, passenger bag still fully sealed in fairly melted dash ;

Drivers bag POP
Passengers Bag BANG !

We were surprised at the heat and smoke involved, drivers bag was red hot to touch and smoked for ages like it was on fire, passenger bag made a huge bang which(as I`ve seen in other wrecks) would have certainly smashed the windshield if it was not already broken !

They have got to be that fast when people are driving in to things at a 100km/hr...

I keep telling my wife not to put her feet on the dash while piss farting around while we are driving. Thats why haha.

Most of the time, drivers who are in a car when the airbags deployed end up with a broken nose, of some sort of facial damage. But I tell you what, rather a little broken nose then to be dead thanks to impact

Yeah I`d rather have them too in a serious crash , and I guess with the combined experience of two big metal objects hitting each other, the impact and screaming, an airbag would be the least of your worries.

Was fun to see what happens in a controlled test, would have been great to have a buster type figure to sit in the car...maybe a beer in his hand and sunnies to test impact.... but Tony wouldn`t lend us his blow up doll for the test...would have smudged her lipstick and got her all Dirty

Both went off when I hit the wall in my car. Was probably doing about 60 to 70km/h and hit the barrier at about a 45deg angle. Neither me or my passenger touched the airbags, seatbelts did the job perfectly. But I do actually remember seeing the bonnet crumple and the airbags going off...on impact.
