Default Lube for the WRX

I was going to go with something cheezy like "Lube for the Sub" but i will just stick with "Lube for the WRX".

Just wondering what your preferences were for oil for the WRX? Do you buy your oil and give it to Subaru for service or do you take what Subaru give you? Actually, what do they give you?

I used to use Shell Helix Ultra for the TX3 and Elf Excellium for the Renault Sport. Magnificent for the TX3 - she gave me 230 000ks with really no problems. Havent got much to say about Elf - Its probably just because i hate Renault in Perth.

Shell have a pretty decent lube selector on their site:

http://www.shell.com/home/PlainPageS...lubematch.html

What do you know - they recommend Helix Ultra!

Yer Motul FTW.

Ran the 10W40 300V Chrono, good shit but hugely pricey. I'm running Motul Turbolight at the mo, so far no issues.

Just take whatever Subaru gives you for their service. They are warranting your car for 3-5 years so I'm sure they will give you something decent.

You wouldn't want to have a warranty claim rejected becuase you did not use the authorised oils.

End of the day, use what ever grade of oil your owners manual says. They are all going to be roughly the same if changed regularly. Problems mainly occur when people change the grade of oil or don't service their cars often enough.

And I'm sure there are heaps of threads on oils on here too...

Thanks for your help. Tried a search before posting the thread - "oil" mentioned in many places but no thread on it.
