gav - i remember and i will deliver as soon as i sort out a few bugs.
I have decided to do the cosworth cams but not now - just enjoying my ride for once. That will set you back around $3k which inlcudes labour and parts i think the tomei kit is too much and the 2.5 is not the best option unless you spend some seriouse cash... there is one thing that the 2.5 has that the 2l dosent and thats torque. with my setup (like yours but with fmic and decaps) full boost hits around 4500-4800 rpms... that is why i have decided to do the cams as i have been told they will help with lag and may gain around 20+ hp. remeber - i only got 15hp more than you but your nm was about 20 more than mine. and by the way - how fast do you wanna get up to 50km/h the day you took me for a ride your car was sweet. nice sound good looks and felt nice on the road and with the few extra killa wasps your porb looking at a mid 12s car (if not a touch less) no disrespect to anyone here but what would you prefer - a reliable car or a heavily modified beast that has to back and forth to the workshop to sort out problems... my 2cents Chris |

I dont really see a downside to a stroker kit other then the inital cost. Getting another 200cc out of your stroke will increase torque whilst still having a fairly revvy engine. More of a midway then going for a 2.5ltr which are known for shithouse bores that need to be sleeved. Unless ofcorse you buy one like STI's already done which will be good on both behalfs as they know its going to a good home and you get a decent product!

I could be talking out of my arse here but anyway...
Have you considered adding a standard STI 2.5L crank into a 207 block? Might not be as strong as the Tomei Kit. But it would take you up to 2.19L and you'll retain the 207's OEM forged pistons etc and save you a lot of money. Although Im not sure if your 207 has forgies since its a Jap Spec C. So assuming it doesnt, even adding a set of forgies in there would still work out cheaper than the Tomei Kit.

no it dosent jimmy.... only AUD models 01-05 sti have forgies... and jap spec maybe upto 2002-2003?? but the rest of the models have hyperneautic pistons.. I would sell the sti shortblock u have and buy a EJ22T and build that up. A little bit more displacement, or u could bore it out to a 2.35. can rev the shits out of it and still be very strong...
