You'll need one ballast per globe

usual spotties take H1's, so you need a h1 hid kit

Its stupid to run HID's without projector headlights. You will blind oncoming traffic, they will just look like bright globes and won't be as effective as if done properly - don't bother.

Why would you put HID's in your spotties? Do you use them often in the country, or are they for wank?

If they're for wank, then you're definitely a wanker...because driving with spotties on around town is shit, let alone with a HID kit installed in them. You'll blind everyone and get fined by the cops.

If you use them in the country, then I apologise and disregard the above comment. That being said, you'd still be wasting your time putting HID's in the factory spotties, as they were never designed to work like that i.e. they are "foglights". You're better off buying a Hella spotlight kit which is made specifically to go in the factory location on WRXs.

HID's only really work well with projectors, so worth it.

Joe man, you got those in yet?

Well, they're wired up and they work great

I had a friend make the harnesses for me (with my help of course he he), by following the wiring diagram posted on NASIOC. Worked a treat!

I just have to run one more power wire across the engine bay to the drivers side wiring harness (we just bodged one up to try the lights out), and then I need to mount the ballasts and install the headlights.

I've been stalling because I needed to move my catch can from in front of the battery (the HID STi headlights are deeper than the originals), and now I need to make a bracket for that too.

At the same time I want to tidy up the rest of the wiring in my engine bay, etc. It just keeps snowballing!!

Tino,

I'm talking about random wiring which comes from stuff that has been added i.e. boost solenoids, antilag solenoids, gauges, etc. It's starting to look a little untidy, and I plan on either removing whats not required, or integrating it into the factory conduits, etc.

Your engine bay has slightly different requirements to mine too, most of my engine bay is in the same position as factory (turbo, manifold, etc)
