$590 for Brant Alarm Module- Reasonable?

Hi there, wonder if anyone can help out. I couldnt start my car on a night out and had to tow it to City Subaru next day.

They reckon a diode has fried the alarm module and it will cost $590 to replace.

Is this reasonable or am i getting ripped off?

Furious

I would get another after market alram fitted

Bigbrother is very good , done all of mine from the day the door opened

Price plus install? Where?

werticusness 30-08-2008 12:49 AM

always the 2 cent part :P

when a diode fails it can fry things behind it so its reasonable that the module is broken enough to replace.

Is the part that the keypad runs into? If so, mine went on my 04 and it cost about $250 from memory, Subaru Osborne Park

You can get an Autowatch installed for 2/3 that price.

Check with Action Alarms...they may be able to source a Brant for less than that. They had the WA contract to install Brants in all the earlier series GD's.

remove the brant, throw it in the bin of things that should be un-invented, and get a new alarm fitted. autowatch or laserline would be good choices. don't always go for the cheapest price with alarms, because this can mean a very poor quality installation.

personaly autowatch ftw!
we only ussualy have trouble with the older version imobilizers by autowatch, mainly due to there 8 years old :P
autowatch have a good range of alarm systems cant remember prices off the top of my head tho. phone around first. seriously labour costs in auto electrics are all over the place atm

yeah mate 2nd the autowatch for much less than that price you can get a autowatch with keypad security installed. so you wont loose the fact of having a pin code to start car.
