Default Car audio installs

Where is the best place to get car audio gear installed??

few places around are charging a fortune 400 to 500....not keen on spending that much on a install.

Anyone here know how to fit it all up? that has had experience?

cheers

its a pretty simple DIY.

what kind of gear are you installing, just to gauge a reason for charging you $500

try offering an installer cash instead, ie: he comes to ur house or visa versa on a sunday and does it..

Splits, 2 amps, Dvd head unit and sub.

use to be alot cheaper to fit something like that before.

You need to give more details on the install your after. I can see most places charging around $500 for a basic install, everything adds up sub box, sound deadening, power cables, RCA'S, fuses & labour.

hmm, I would usually suggest Macy from westside, but you have already done that, and we all know his work is worth the $$ you pay for it. Which is what it comes down to. If you want it installed properly, crisp and hassle free, you might have to pay the $400 - 500 you were quoted. You could attempt it yourself, or get a n00b to do it, but risk frying an amp or something stupid like that and costing you more money in the end.

If yu decide to tackle it yourself, I can give u some tips and pointers about your car, to make it easier for you, as I have done the installs in both my STI and my old 06 Impreza.

Front speaker positions are very shallow so be careful which ones you chose, I don't think any would fit without spacers. I run Focal 165V slim splits I had to make some MDF spacers to get them to fit.
Also which DVD headunit do you have? most single Din units have a hideaway control box which makes installs abit more tricky than a normal headunit.
