Question Just bought my first rex and have a few questions!

Hi everyone
My names Trent I've just moved to Perth from Tassie and just have a few questions. The MY99 I just bought is currently regestered In Vic and has been over here for nearly a year. When I transfer rego will I need a road worthy? If so, will it pass with a bov, exaust and lower suspension?

No road worthy, will need to pass pits. Bov wont pass if it makes noise, exhaust too loud, car lower than 100mm.

If you only just bought it, and it is registered in VIC, then don't drive it.

To get it inspected here you will need a temp movement permit to allow
you to drive it to the inspection center.

Unless YOU owned the car yourself in VIC for at least a year then it is now
considered unregistered in WA. This catches lots of people out, especially
because your insurance will not pay if you have a prang.

How did you pay for it ?
Did you get a receipt ?
Did you know that VIC govt will not let you transfer it into your name coz you don't live there ? Even so, do not fill in VIC transfer papers.

WA licencing will need some sort of proof of purchase, eg receipt from previous
owner. Eg, a letter from them saying they have sold it to you and for how much
you paid for it.

The best way is a letter from the previous owner saying you own bought it from
them. Take that with you when getting inspected/licensed and the WA guys
will take you VIC plates and send them back to VIC for you. Don't take the car
down there without the plates. They will not license the vehicle here if they
are unable to de-licence it in VIC. You can't have 2 sets of plates for one car
unless you want to make problems for yourself.

Once inspected as OK, you will need to pay licence AND transfer fee immediately
at a licencing center.

Hope this helps a bit.

^^^ Excellent advice. I was unaware of the law regarding interstate cars when I bought my car. I drove it for about 8 weeks and even got pulled over for speeding in that time and the cop didnt fine me. I only found out when I took the car to the pits for WA rego that the inspector asked for my permit. I was confused as it had 7 months rego left on it. Apparently I had been driving unlic for 8 weeks.

Does anyone know of a place to get these things temporarily fixed eg. take off bov and exhaust and bolt on a standard. I've only been here a month and most of my mates no fk all about cars so any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated!

What exhaust is on it? Is it super loud? If not should be ok as long as it has a cat in it.
Is BOV atmospheric or plumb back?
I am sure someone on here would have a standard BOV they could loan to get over pits. I had one but gave it away. If your BOV is plumb back it will be fine.
Minimum ride height is 100mm from lowest point on car. Alot of guys get knocked back for this as their exhaust hangs lower.

yep bov needs to go, not sure about the boost controller. Make sure exhaust isnt catless. motor and underbody looks neat so should be ok once those minor things are fixed.

i have GX-REX's stock BOV so you can have that. its as simple as undoing 2 bolts and then re tighening. Should take you less than 5 minutes to change.

Then measure your ride height, 100mm to the lowest point on your car. Mine was my exhaust. These look like the 2 things that may need to be done before going over the pits.
