Having trouble getting your Oil Filter off?
I don't know about anyone else but the filter location on these cars sucks arse and to try and get anything in there is a bit of a pain in the ass. Sometimes the Oil filter tools can be a bit expensive so I was searching round my local Bunnings and found one of these;
People use them for all sorts of things and I decided to give it a whack at the oil filter. Anyway these things are cheap and work a treat. BTW my car was a bitch to do a change on, to low, plastic plates oil filter in a crap location! |
I usually put mine on and tighten it correctly when I service it and it comes off by hand.. First time. Every time.

I wasn't the last person to service it, it was a work shop...

Well that seal will never have been lubed up either...... |
if you cant get them off, sometimes you can bang a decent screwdriver through it to get it started then twist away. your removing it anyway.

Done this a few times... works a treat but its usually very messy. You should try removing the oil filter on a 1st Gen Honda CR-V... its stuck on the back of the block right up the top, you have to squirrel your hand up between a gap in the subframe to get the filter out!! Definitely the worst filter position I've seen, the Subaru one is a dream in comparison! |
Old hemi's have the filter mounted upside down, at the top of the block, near the firewall.
Stupidest design ever. |
I always thought the subaru ones were nice and easy, clean to drain out.
