While the cheap helmets meet Aus standards and are not bad for the occasional use.

If you plan on wearing it for any amount of time the ones you pay more for generally are lighter, quieter and more comfortable.

I bought a M2R Full face helmet for the bike. It is the noisiest thing on the planet. It is driving me nuts! I don't want to pay ludicrous for an Arai or Shoei just like the OP but is that what I will need to do to keep the wind noise etc.. down?

Just remember that for motorbikes you dont need a flame retardant one but for cars you do. Logic is that a bike will throw you clear. i.e. you get the right safety standard.

249 with the speccy visor. (GREAT in extreme sun). All I can say though, is try on ALL of them, as its amazing how a L or XL, from one brand to another, varies so much. How it fits around the top of head, cheeks, nose, etc etc.

And remember, your head will get hot, and expand a bit, and make sure it fits when youre sitting in the car...

Settled for an M2R helmet from a bike place in Joondalup for $109. Used it yesterday for a PDC at the RAC Driving Cntr. Fits great.

Thanks for the help guys.

Shane.
