Default 08 STI tune question

Showing my noob-ness but If I dont ask I'll never know

I remember test-driving the then-new 08 STi a while back and couldnt really put my finger on why it FELT so sluggish (the car itself was actually very quick but there was no shove in the back treatment like STI's of old just boring linear acceleration)

Sorry if I have offended any 08 STI owners but my first Subaru drive was a stock 04 STI and that car was the reason I desired a turbo-subaru of any kind. It just pulled so strongly. Even a stock 06 STI I test drove pulled very strong with the 2.5L

My question does an exhaust + re-tune on an 08 make it "feel" like say a similarly tuned 06 STI? (i.e. does it push your head into the back of the seat properly)

Thanks,

Shane.

DriveByWire would be the culprit
an exhaust +verso/ecutek reflash will make it a whole new car.

They kick-arse when tuned, etc - best & quickest STi I've driven - except......the motor will need replacing eventually (even thrice or fourthice).

May be a stupid question but did you have the SI-Drive in Sport Sharp mode when you drove it? First time i drove an 08 STi i thought my 07 WRX felt quicker until i realised it was in Intelligent mode. Switched to Sport Sharp and definitely felt a push into the back of the seat. I loved it..

Yeah the salesman had it in Sports mode first, and then switched to Sports Sharp for the rest of the drive, you can feel the difference between the two modes but there wasn't much feeling (compared to an 04/06 STI I mean).

From the passenger seat however you can feel the pull. It's def not like the manic STI's of old as you don't realise how fast you're actually going. Make no mistake the car is very quick and smooth. I just didn't feel it from the drivers seat is all.

Anyways its good to know that with an exhaust + tune you can fix that.
