Coolant problem

My coolant keeps come out the top of the fill up cap close to the battery. Anyone had this problem? my97

This should not happen, as it should come out of the overflow hose, which comes right off the line to the filler cap....

You might have a shagged radiator cap which is letting the water out before it should, first thing I'd check or replace..........Make sure it's not overheating too.

it is coming out of the overflow hose. but the hose goes no where and so coolant is running down to the ground, where should the overflow hose be?

Are you over-filling the expansion bottle by chance?

Robbo 18-05-2010 03:46 PM

no, not overfilling. i think i may have a bubble somewhere in the coolant system. no pressure when i take the cap off.

as mentioned, replace your rad cap.

either that or blown headgasket.

It should go into a bottle beside the radiator so that when the cooling system cools off it can draw coolant back in again

Is it only dropping a little bit when it is hot ?

yeh only after a long drive
