help! 06 WRX cuts out, starts after rest, cuts out, and so on.

My 2006 WRX has recently randomly cut out. it doesnt start straight away, but if i leave it for a few minutes it starts again. No CEL, no logged fault code. Racetorque had it for 3 days and couldn't find any fault as the fault is so intermittent. car broke down twice on the way home.

Details,
2006 WRX sedan. ECUTEK type 2, X-force turbo back exhaust, new fuel pump, otherwise stock.

Any suggestions on a diagnosis?

replace with a different immobiliser/alarm system

MY00GC8 19-05-2010 08:54 PM

its usually the Keypad module failing, and enabling the alarm whilst driving, cutting out the fuel pump...

Thanks, it makes sense. I guess thats why there's no fault code or CEL.
I had a go at turning it on to manual mode but it still cut out.

I guess I can find an autoelec to replace/bypass/or as suggested, fit an alternative.

To get it fixed go to Subaru with a fist full of dollars.

OR

Get an AUTOWATCH or Laserline alarm fitted for around $600 with all the fruit. Ashley Auto Electricians are my choice.

it does sometime log a fuel pump controller code, but only sometimes
only problem with replacing the system is your insurance company....
it isnt a big cost to replace/code the keypad module, they have upgraded the part now and usually dont have problems once replaced...

amusing after so many years, subaru australia should have abandoned it after '00
