how much power from mod's???
getting my99 gc8 tuned on thursday by MMS and was wondering how much power it will make.
alltronics smc, turbo back exhaust, aps cold air intake, silicon intake, processwest tmic, upgraded fuel pump, everything else stock standard. |
wow. all that and still on the stock td04 turbo?
around 160kw atw tops. |
210 to 220hp atw

as above
160kw/220hp with a heap more midrange torque :) |
turbo and injectors coming later i'm thinking vf34 but maybe something larger not sure.

should have done it all at once and saved on tuning, if the funds allowed. vf34 should go pretty well, is it still a 205? probabaly don't want to push it too much harder especially if it has plenty of kms on it |
any suggestions other than vf34
|
it's ej205 with 112000km and probably shouldn't push it too far.
|
any suggestions other than vf34
what are you looking for from the car? track, drags, street etc is it an ej205 engine still? TD-05 16g is pretty similar to the vf34, but alot of people opt for the vf34 + STi top mount road, good balance between horsepower and response. There isn't alot of difference between the 02+ STi top mounts and the process west cooler. Personally i find said combo a little boring but on a 205 its a proven combo and cars make a reliable 200kw atw. On a daily, I'd think its your best option. |
is there much difference if u get a front mount with that combo? any idea on the power increase?
|

not much power increase if any, only more lag! at that sized turbo, a top mount flows more than enough air and will not be your restriction. |
its just a daily driven car, not looking for large horse power but something extra than what it is. i would have done turbo and injectors e.t.c all at once but it does come down to time and $$$$.

add injectors and turbo, you'll be looking at 190-200 kw atw. At least you're heading in the right direction, good choice of mods so far. Get the suspension and braking sorted and you'll have a very slick daily. |
sweet cheers for reply
|
excellent thread!, report back with updates on what power u made and good luck!
|
if u went from a front mount to the largest top mount that will fit a gc8, the GD sti i think u guys said? being that the flow wouldnt change would u need a retune?
|
You should get a retune. There will be less lag. so you'll have more boost down the lower end of the rev range. Need to get it tuned to suit.

I would get one. The flow will change, ie more flow down low due to less piping on a top mount in comparison to a front mount. So although flow rates won't change all that much, where in the rpm range it flows will...if that makes sense. :o Doh beaten |
fack costs more to convert then, oh well
|
It all comes down to tuning.
It's possible to make less than stock power... On the other hand, you could also get 200kw out of it... for a while. |
whats a while? lol as thats what i make
|
on a td04?
|
na vf34, 200 kw on a td04 at explosion zone?
|
200kw is pretty normal for vf34.
OP has a standard TD04. |

no worries, will post results later in the week. |

i have seen an easy 308kw atw in a 05 STI with a hyperflow top mount, defenately not a restriction |

the silver STi graham was showing me around? We were having a look at the fuel system on it. Is that the same car that had the replacement full cosworth crate long motor in it? The first motor fucked up due to a fueling issue and its now on the engine stand next to my motor? |

What turbo though?
|
What turbo though?
whatever it is, its mounted in the stock position. |
In other news, VF48
