06 sti
Hey guys looking at buying a new car.
It's a 2006 MY06 STI It is completely stock and I have just gotten a vehicle inspection done and it and everything checked out perfectly except it has minor stone chips on the front bumper and lower bonnet, and the clutch could be near the end of its life as it has very minimal free play. It has done 118,000kms but has only had 1 owner and a full Subaru service history. The reason it has done slightly high kilometers is because the guy has done a salary sacrifice and is required to drive it 25,000kms per year. It was lastly serviced at Subaru today with the timing belt changed. Just so I know what I am paying for it is correct. I am just wondering roughly what you guys think this vehicle is worth taken into account all that information i have just provided?? Your serious input in much appreciated. Cheers guys.

Get some real piece of mind and have it inspected 'whilst having a chat with', one of the clubs respected mechanical shops (if you haven't already).
29 thousand Km's a year is a more then just slightly higher (in my opinion), and market research (cross referencing against Aussie forum sales sections and carsales. should give you a rough idea as to market value).

120,000 kms is still that, whether it was part of a lease agreement or not.
Personally I wouldnt pay more than 30, more around 26-28. There are much better examples around for mid 30's |

Its from over east and will need to be trucked over here. I have already got an rac vehicle inspection taken place on it, and then had a good chat to the inspector on the phone afterwards.
It was built in Feb 06 so its more like 25,000 per year as i stated. In terms on the kilometers being high, it doesnt really bother me too much as my current 03 Wrx has done 128,000 so for my it is still an upgrade. Also i think as i already have a Pajero as a daily driver i would'nt be putting too much kms onto it, so hopefully by the time it comes for me to sell, it should be closer to average. If i was to find one with less Kms I think it would be too far outside my price range. It either this STI with the higher kms or I really cant afford it and will have to just keep my car.

I was really considering getting an 05 because it has the better engine, but i already have an 03 and its the shape shape, i cant justify selling my car to buy another one that is soo similar. Plus one of my mates has an 05 sti, and i dont want exactly the same car as him.

I would be very concerned about 2 things...
full subaru service history is a worry, but I suppose apprentices have to learn shortcuts somewhere. and RAC would not be my choice for inspecting a vehicle more advanced than a HQ holden.
