Default My01 Ej20- my02 Ej20

Will the 02 wrx EJ20 be a straight plug'n'play with the my01 Wrx ej20?

Think i may have found a suitable block to replace my now shagged my01 ej20 big-end bastard.

Thank you, kind sir!

Is there any info you can give me on buying a 2nd hand block? This one has 63,000kms (full long motor) And is fairly cheap.. Apparently runs perfectly.

Any second hand item is a risk, hence the price. I would do a comp test, new fluids and at $1000, suck it and see.

MY01/02.. exactly the same.

When you say long motor, does it have heads too? If so, then it should drop in with minimal fuss.. thus reducing your labour costs.

Yep, heads too!

As far as i know, my current engines big end bearings are gone.. So hoping to just replace the engine with this one. Or else, mix n match!

Still trying to figure out what to do.

If I were you, I'd:

- Get report from Subaru mechanic
- Get photos of damage (metallic particles in oil indicating spun big end bearing).
- Hit dealership up for cost of 2nd hand motor
- Buy that 2nd hand motor
- Get a Subaru specialist to install it (shouldn't be an issue as a long motor swap is fairly simple.. try All-Star Garage, Maximum Motorsport or STechnic as 3 good examples of workshops).

+1, however remember that a second hand engine is just that...it may also have some faults so tread carefully so as not to be bitten twice...

I'll give it a shot guys!!!!

Ill attempt to have all this done by 5:30 pm today, as thats when the long motor becomes available. Should the dealer refuse to have anything to do with it, dad wants to go to court. Since i took finance through them, for the fked car, that im now left paying for+loan. I've only done 2000kms since purchase... ridiculous.
