Soo a good friend of mine is parting his engine... he wants a more subtle daily build... I've tried to talk him out of it...

he has a WRX CLUB SPEC AWD EVO IV with the following...


INTERNALS : Closed-deck STi block, 2.5L knife-edged crank, custom forged rods, Arias pistons and rings, ACL bearings, ARP studs, ported and polished head, Crower 272? cams and valves, STi valve gear, JUN adjustable cam gears, 8.5:1 compression ratio

INDUCTION/INJECTION/IGNITION: HKS air filter, blow-off valve, 30375 turbocharger, 60mm Progate II and intercooler and piping kit, STi oil pump, catch can, Earl?s fittings, X-Force tuned-length manifold, polished inlet manifold and throttle body, Bosch 044 in-tank fuel pump, 850cc injectors, Sard rising-rate fuel regulator, Blitz Spec R boost controller


Pretty much, this workshop wants to swap their stock used EJ207 engine + a brand new VF34 + all free labor charges for his block and turbo.... is it worth it ? is it a fair trade ?

tell him ill buy the engine off him its scotts old car from tech nine by looking at those specs

But then that would leave him with no engine lol, he doesn't know much about cars. He told me he just wants something more reliable and better for daily driving... but I'm not sure if this is smart or if his losing money

maybe a brand new ej207 would be closer

why dont you swap your motor for it boxer beast? chuck a new 207 in his and swap the blocks and turbo over, youb be crazy not to didnt he pay more then 30k for that gc8?

Why the fuck did he buy a 400hp weapon if he wanted a reliable and responsive daily

I would love to, he told me if he'd known he would of done it with me.... his far far down south in Denmark atm. I just dropped his car off this morning at trucking service to truck it down there to him... he told me it's too late now =(

+2 tell him hed be better off selling the car again and getting 25k for it and buying a 05 STi for reliability for about the same money

Like I said before he doesn't know much about cars, when he purchased it I guess he didn't take that into consideration and just thought "whoah 400hp sickkk"
