RA-R on saturday
Well after 3 months I am picking up my RA-R and spending the next 6 hours driving it back to where I am working thru the mountains.
Just wondering what sort of safe knock levels my ECUdatascan should display? Not wanting to blow it up straight away. Cheers |
You're back in NZ then I assume, can you get bottles of octane booster over there? If so chuck one in for the trip just to be safe.

WA has mountains?

He's in NZ. :D |
Congrats. Run actuator pressure and try stay off WOT :D

ECUdatascan doesn't display "knock" to the best of my knowledge.
|
Yes I am still in NZ on contract. Can't wait to get hold of it finally. Been so any delays with shipping and then the earthquake played its part as well.
Will be running it on 98 octane (which is about $2.35 a litre) until I can get it retuned. I guess I will have to be gentle with it. So what normal knock figures should I see on the display fro the ECU |
wow 2.35/L i'm very jealous of the purchase, such an awesome car
|
Just remember it doesn't have forged pistons and has the hypermelt chocolate ones so if you're going to be running 98 is get it tuned/flashed etc ASAP! and be babying it until you do, no point risking the motor for a bit of wot.
I plodded around until I got my Autronics and then had it tuned for our awesome 98fuel, OT was hard but had to be done. |
I look for 0 knock and check if its pulling timing anywhere. Depending on the knock mic, 1-2 counts can just be phantom knock. This is however on an Evo :)
If you are worried, plug a knock amp in and have a listen. |
