Cool Thanks Westside Car Audio

I just wanted to say a big thanks to Macey & Fabian over at Westside Sound & Image. You guys both did a fantastic job with my car audio on the 17/3/11

I had an existing Rockford Fosgate sub & amp sitting in my laundry for over a year and I finally got around to having them installed to my new WRX Hatch. With the aid of a brand new Alpine bluetooh/ipod deck my car is now rocking again! Crappy scratched cd's flying around in the car are a thing of the past. You have me asking the question "How did I ever survive without the sub & ipod for so damn long?" The difference is absolutely chalk and cheese.

I often use my boot and need access to fold down the seats. The last thing I want is a massive sub in the way. I had in mind a built in system to keep the sub out of the way.

This was also done by Macey I believe.

After a bit of chat with Macey & Fabian they came up with an even better solution for my needs. I didn't have to dollars to have a full custom install so Macey & Fabian were more than happy to recommend getting the amp installed under the passenger seat. This leaves just two easy to remove wires going to the sub. They have used two cleaver 'click-lock' tie downs that allow me to easily remove the sub completely when I need to use the boot! Problem solved!

The quality of the installation is fantastic!!! I cant see any wires anywhere. Nothing hanging from behind the glove box for people to trip on (like in my old car). They didn't even make any holes in my boot because they used existing tie downs that are hidden under it!

The upgrade was accompanied by a new Alpine blue-tooth/ipod deck.

(sorry about the crap photo. I'll take another at night. It looks mean with a red display to match my cluster & the blue buttons to match the car!)

The wireless 'Parrot' hands free is fantastic!
The deck also has a high speed cable that allows you to charge your phone while listening to music. You can access your playlist's etc through the deck while your phone is hidden in the glove box (no ugly wires all over the car) .

My single criticism is not with the fantastic quality of workmanship. But that it is extremely difficult to use your phone through the deck of the Alpine. Having become very used to the extreme simpleness of the iphone's touch screen and large colour display it is such a shame to be stuck navigating through the deck. It is also extremely dangerous to use while driving.
You do get voice control over your contacts and call lists, but you don't get voice control over your playlist's.

I will be ordering an air-con mount bracket for my phone. This will allow me to operate everything via bluetooth from a nice easy to reach position and use the large screen on the phone to navigate playlists etc. The high speed cord can stay in the glove box for low battery emergencies.

Again,
Thanks heaps! Great service. Fantastic quality of workmanship. And surprisingly still great value. If you need car audio (and EVERYONE needs some car audio if you don't already) you need to have a chat with the the guys at Westside Sound & Image in Cannington.

Bare in mind that Alberts have large markup for price bartering, unsure what the market rate is for an install these days but to give you an idea the Morley store knocked around $150-$200 off my 'now stolen', radar detector with little haggling.

Can u tell me where, or who they are close to....So i can pull up and get a good quote.

@ mARC: Well i did do some bargaining. Their labor is around $150 and the Unit is $399. I got it down to 50$ off.

but if i can get better deal somewhere which is not Cannignton LOL that would be great. anywhere north of the river is easier.

$500 seems a little steep. Definitely have a chat with Macey & Fabian!

Its a pain in the ass using the deck to navigate your ipod/phone. I didn't spend a lot of time comparing different decks etc but I imagine that none of them will be as easy as just using the phone and bluetoothing your music.

The cord is handy for charging tho!
