Thanks for the feedback guys. The reason that I want/need it quieter is that the other day my wife sat in the back sat with our little boy as we drove around and she said that it was way to loud in the back for the little guy. So I just want it quieter for him, not me, I love the sound.

Maybe I'll investigate the dynamat option, thanks Tarmac!

Otherwise I'll look at a Varex or quieter muffler

Cheers
Dom

A spiral type hot dog in the centre section of the Butler on my old piggy did make a fair difference to the noise level in and out of the car until you really got up it. Sensible driving and cold starts especially were heaps quieter.

If you can afford it, definitely go the resonator (hotdog)route, I've got a Jap system on my car, don't know what brand but it has the Jasma plate on it, it has two resonator's and when cruising you can't even hear it. Still has a nice note when you get into it though.

Norm doesn't use Magnaflow mufflers anymore, he makes his own......because "everything on the market is shit"
He can fit a centre resonator to knock the noise down a bit, some of his systems have one, most don't.

I'm going to try and throw some blankets in the boot and see if that makes a difference before I go changing what I reckon is an awesome sounding exhaust.

Cheers

I was astounded at how much extra noise came in when I pulled the rear seat base out for an AHG day ( easier to clip harness in cos it weighs screw all ).

Perhaps try laying a blanket under the seat base and screw it back in as well as the ones in the boot.

My mrs had a varex system on a turbo mx5 and when activated it was quieter than stock. However, butt-dyno performance felt down massively. Only used it when coming home in the early hours of the morning for the neighbours sake. Also, the controllers went out of code/butterfly failed after a year or so.

I have an extra resonator on my turboXS system and it is quieter than most whilst still sounding good.
