Texting and driving is a dangerous practice, we can all agree on that. But would you be surprised to learn that texting might cause you trouble even when your vehicle is locked up tight? The Black Hat organization gathers industry professionals for events that focus on technical security, and hosts meetings around the world. A recent event in Las Vegas brought out a few folks from iSec Partners, who demonstrated that they could unlock and start a [URL="http://www.autoblog.com/subaru/outback/"]Subaru Outback[/URL] using their Android phone. By setting up their own GSM network, the pair from iSec grabbed authentication passwords by way of text messages. This gained them entry to the vehicle, and also allowed them to fire up the engine.

This security issue isn't a flaw related solely to the Outback either, as the duo from iSec explained how they could gain control over any device that is accessible via similar networks. Well, such is the problem with technology. If you can build it, they can reverse-engineer it. Can even buy the wifi skimming kit on ebay, turn it on, walk around your local supermarket and leave with everyones banking details.. Scary stuff.

Ahh I remember the days when you could get a certain knoppix security live boot disk that would allow you to turn any laptop (granted it had the compatible hardware) into a wireless network hacking machine!

Now it is just too easy :P

An now, with Rob, the WIFI auto-hack, it's as easy as 1,2,3.

How bad is that though, to think, you are protected by WEP/WEP 2, and this little thing will crack it in 20 minutes flat!

Someone with a hacking background and ones of these could easily access banking documents, place a keylogger, all without you even knowing.

Then backtrace his IP address, ping it through China and take all your moneyzz.

Scary stuff, and can be bought on e-bay for $130 :/
