Clutch query's
Hey guys!
I recently blew third on my 99 gc8, but I have got a spec-c complete Drivetrain on the way from Japan, r180 diff, brembo's, hubs ect ect. This setup has a stock clutch though and I want a descent clutch, since I got the gearbox out I might as well save labour/time and get a good one in! I'm making 340hp 400nm torque and will only increase with time! Just wondering what type/make of clutch should I go for? |
It's a 6 speed gearbox setup*

exedy carbon twin plate

i have a spec c set up same as you, the car had the hks turbo 28 35 in it, with stock spec c clutch in it and its held it fine for ages, doesnt slip, and its still in the car now. still going good and that was on 335 hp. but if u wanna change it, id say the stage 3 exedy clutches that mao has at evo r would be very good. and i think theyre something like 1200 installed or something which is very good.

Well Doug from stecnic is doing the conversion for me, I want something that won't slip, but is still daily drivable ( not shuddering everytime I take off). I would keep the stocky in but in money saving wise it's cheaper to put a new clutch in while gearbox is out. Thnx for reply's!

yeah no worries, tell us what clutch u get and if its any good.

Stock clutch is a great piece of gear. Mine is holding up really well. Many many limiter launches etc.
But for the power you are sugesting i would upgrade to a heavier one. As mine with 200kw does slip slightly at the drags on the grippy surface. |
6 speed Exedy HD Organic clutch. Mine is holding down nearly 500Nm without any problem.
|
Yer I was thinking a hd organic coz they not too rough on the gearbox :) and easy to use of course.
