08 Liberty 3.0 running like a dog - Potential Fuel Quality Alert
Just filled up my 08 Liberty 3.0 with 95 from Caltex GT Eastern Hwy
pulled into work (~500 meters away) and car stalled, wouldn't start, eventually spluttered to life, revved okay in N but shuddered and missed badly under load in gear. Pulled her up and let it sit for a while and started it - Engine Light, Traction Control, Cruise and S Drive light flashing on dash but now appears to drive okay. (albeit in some sort of limp home mode, can't change S drive options either) has it had a gutful of crap fuel, thrown a code(s) and in protection mode? I am not with RAC and don't know any mechanics - home is 60kms away via freeway. oh and I dont' usually use caltex but I was being lazy AVOID THAT SERVO ANYWAY! anyone help? advice? |

Dude that sucks. There's a few Caltex on Gt Eastern so you'll have to be more specific.
Personally I would probably fork out for an RAC membership over the phone and flatbed it home or to a workshop. Hopefully no damage.. I would hate to see how hard it would be to recover damages from a service station due to a fuel issue.

Almost impossible to get damages for poor fuel.
Mate of mine destroyed his SAAB turbo two weeks ago when it detonated on Caltex/Woolworths fuel from South Fremantle.

so any thoughts on bad fuel in a NA vehicle? it seems to be running okay now in terms of engine (but it still obviously thinks it has a problem?)

Drain the fuel and get it looked at and obviously stop driving it until its rectified

I would say you have logged misfire codes, could be fuel, could be dirty injectors....
But since you just filled up, most likely thing first.

......and it was running fine before
MOTHERFUCKERS!!! I just rang Manish (?) and told him my suspicions, his answer? not my problem mate me: so you don't mind that you might be selling contaminated fuel? Him: no, its a company problem hmmmmm cool |

It is a company problem though. The guy behind the counter can't be held accountable for dodgy fuel (esp since the fuel line is Caltex and not some franchise i.e. Joes Fuel Mart). The best he could probably do is report it (i'd assume).

yeah for sure
I just assumed they'd be a little proactive and close the pump/tank in question until it can be checked a little naive of me I guess |
