How much can I save through group buy (Rally Armor Mud Flaps)

I still quite new here, this question might be asked before.

I was wondering that how much can I save through group buy - Rally Armor Mud Flaps? I am wanting to get one, but they are fairly expensive (to me) - $170 plus $60 shipping from the official site. I saw the group buy thread for Rally Armor Mud Flaps take 2, however I think it has already been closed. Can anyone please tell me how they saved?

Also, how does group buy works on the forum? Do we just rely on trust :)?

I havent been around the forum long either, however I am currently running a group buy for radar detectors.

It's pretty straight forward;
-get in contact with the company you wish to purchase goods form, inquire as to possible savings if you organise a group buy from them(letting them know you are from PWRX is a good idea).
-If they say "yes, we can do you a deal", post it up under the groupbuy section for people to express interest.
-Then sort out how you want to collect payment from members, and distribute items once they arrive...

Being organised is crucial, especially if it's a large group buy, make sure to keep track of who has paid and contact details etc
Regularly communicate progress to group buy members as they are trusting you with their money.
Also finally, make sure you notify people there are risks, albeit minimal with online shopping, and that you are not responsible for anything going wrong with the group buy until the goods are in your possesion. People genreally understand that it is by their own discretion and risk if they want to be a part of a group buy, but it's good to notify them of that. If anything, just to cover your own ass, should issues arise.

I am yet to see a group buy where people get screwed by the organiser. (by the supplier who 'forgets' to organise brand stickers on a product is a different story)

Assuming you went to school it's not hard to work out the savings in a group buy. Personally, if it is something I really wanted and had the cash ready to go, I wouldn't bother waiting for another group buy. But if you are really skint but want it bad, it would be worth organising yourself.

A tip though, if organising yourself, you will need to know enough people for others to trust you with their cash and have enough spare time on your hands to deal with everyone elses shit. IMHO - not worth my time. ( I get $100 an hour, I need to be saving $1000 to be worth it)

Suny05, It might be an idea to PM the organiser of the previous group buy to see what prices they got.

Alternately become active on the forums and in the future start one yourself.

Discounted group buy prices work on volume.

Suny, you have a sedan or hatch? I have brand new rallyarmors to suit a my11 / my12 hatch for sale.

Hey Ben, Thank you for the offer. However, I've got a MY12 WRX sedan.

try car mods australia - I think they were like $210 delivered or something like that? Buy a few other bibs and bobs and dan will likely do you a deal.

To be honest you won't save too much as the MY12 Sedan flaps are around USD 179.00 + Freight... by doing in a group buy I got 10% off the total purchase price and freight was around $20.00 Per item on average.

I wouldn't think it would be worth your time for a saving of $20.. but props to all those who organise group buys for the rest of us..
