97 WRX Fuel Consumption

I thought I'd mention this on the forums before calling up a subaru place.

My stock 97 wrx's fuel consumption is about 13L/100km. Most of this driving is to work and back (5kms away) or short trips (under 10kms). Driving mostly conservatively with the odd burst, but nothing too crazy. Does this fuel sound about normal or does it sound like quite a lot?

Should I take it to a Suburu mechanic to get it tuned or something? Is it worth the cost, I hear it can get quite expensive?

short trips will return higher fuel consumption than longer trips.

I get around 10 with lots of short trips in peak hour traffic but also some warm longer runs.

Stock MY99 though.. Not sure about a 97.

As stated, normal. I drive 10-15 minutes to work in stop/start traffic and my fuel economy is locked at 12.6L/100km (MY08)

My MY00 is on average running around 10L per 100kms
This has been recorded since October last year, when i had a heap of parts bolted on and had it tuned.
