Gave him a call said he couldn't do it becuase he is booked out for 2 weeks in advance. I'll just take it to osbourne park subaru or stechnic I'm sure if the guy at the car yard wants a sale he will let me take it for a check again.

If I was a kid about to get on my P's I would be praying for the Bugeye! The GC's are nostalgic for those that grew up watching WRC back in the day, but the GD's are more modern and would suit a younger person with the extra safety to boot.

Don't buy a cheap wrx that's a bit iffy even if it's only a short term proposition.
I saw/test drove 6 wrx's that all had dramas b4 buying my bugeye which was a bit pricier.
Dealers won't touch a dodgy car on trade in and it will b tough to re sell.
I have test drove a gt 86 and as good as it was a wrx is still a better car for an enthusiastic driver IMO.

Had both the GC and GD's and I'd be going with the GD no questions asked.

Much stiffer design, better brakes, better interior, ECU can be flashed, much more parts available for the GD series on, far more modern looking design etc etc.. Could go on all day.

Really no question in my opinion.

Ring Dave at STechnic and get it checked.

Knocking is bad, ticking is bad but it could just be in need of some new oil "makes a big difference to the engine noise"

I'm thinking just buy it and get it serviced and all problems sorted thing is if i buy the gc i've got no cash for repairs and if i buy the gd i've got 1500 bucks for repairs alone.

I'm gonna go there tomorrow morning talk to the bloke and say i just want to take it and get it checked by stechnic if he doesn't let me I'll walk away and keep looking.

So you have purchased an 86 and are awaiting arrival.

Now you want to buy a 12 year old car with ticking noises and only have 1500 for repairs.

Why not just buy a cheap runabout like a Corolla, drive that around for a few months, and then sell it? Less potential problems.
Smootang and ALLPAWS like this.
