should i be concerned
just noticed today, i bought and installed a turbosmart bov 2nd hand on the weekend and noticed a small amount of oil around the vent holes... have stock intake including filter, though looks quite new. where is this oil comeing from.. is the turbo's oil seal on the way out or has gone?
|
as long as its not fully dripping.. normal for oil to go through.. like a thin film.. any more and its bad news for turbo :)
|
have to get ur oppinion or a little bit being normal... it isn't fully dripping, but a browny/black bit around the vents, half a drip if that on each vent... not alot??
|
it'll probably be a little bit of blow-by from your motor that has been left as oil sitting in your intercooler and just makes its way out the bov as an easy escape route, if it get a lot worse get someone to look at it... other option is to pull your intercooler off and flush it out to make sure there isn't any residual oil sitting in it and that should limit it for a while to.
hope that helps |
yer as rob says its just called turbo blow-by to fix this if you are concerned maybe invest in a oil catch can. this will collect most the blow by so u dont have this problem and also prevent ur engine from detonating... there quite cheap you can pick one up for under 100bucks

you can also clean out the I/C with some fuel does the job nice.
|
but it will come bak so whats the point?

Errrr well, It helps to remove long time build-up. and after a catch can it can minimize the level of oil in the I/C. Aiiiight! :) |
