Default Short Stroke 2.5

All,

I recently got hold of a set of 2.5 block halves.

Just checking with the experts here on the pro's and con's of doing a short stroke build.

I believe it becomes a 2.35, and better revving engine than the 2.5.

cheers

2.332cc on a standard 99.5mm EJ25X bore.

I think they aren't a bad combination.

If I were to do it I would have 2.0mm longer conrods made, or maybe even longer rods made and use pistons designed a 2.5 stroker.

In order to use the longest conrod possible.

Why would I do this?

Better rod to stroke ratio and less side thrust/bore loading/friction/wear.

The bigger bore has a great effect on how the engine can breath compared to a 2.0 litre bore. The valves are far less shrouded.

Some big cams and valves (plus supporting mods) = 10,000+ rpm ability.

I can see this thread could be financially painful.

I've got a good 207 crank, spec C heads, cossie cams and so on and so on...

come on Gav, you know that you want to build one.

Close decking yes.

But if the bores are good (round and not barrel shaped), I don't think that you would need to sleave it if you kept the boost below about 2.2 bar.

2.35's are good for high displacement revs, ie big turbo to 10,000rpm sort of build. Rev like a 2L but with the higher capacity
