Ethernet cable in my car
Never asked when i bought the car as the old man picked it up for me and just never really bothered me, but now i'm just curious as to what it may have been used for.
It's, as i said above, a black ethernet cable that comes out from behind the dash clock. There isn't any kind of mount there or any indication one may have been placed there. I havent tried plugging a laptop or anything into it. But what would it of been used for? A car phone or something?? Anyways i searched google and couldn't get a decent answer on there either.. Never seen another car with one or heard of one before... so any 1 got a clue. Not that it probably matters but the car is an 05 sti. and there isn't any microphone or anything for like handsfree or blue tooth.

It may also be a RJ45 cable to power a V1?

going to have to excuse my ignorance and explain a little more about it. What exactly would you/could you have plugged in there, as i said it kind of just dangles our from behind the clock. Probably only about 100-150mm of exposed cabling. So i dont get what would of sat there?

The power cable for a Valentine One radar detector (or similar, not sure if any other radar detector has a similar power cord)
It looks like an ethernet/phone cable of sorts.

Being that it pokes out where you say it does and it only sticks out a short way, my guess is its a radar detector cord for sure.

the more i'm reading about these valentine radar detectors the more i believe it is one.
If any 1 has one would be great to plug it in to see if it works. Pretty ironic as i was in the market for one might save myself a little hassle doing the wiring if i can confirm its a V1 like you guys suggested.

Contact the online supplier who sells them on this forum. He'll probably be happy to confirm it is one.

Just come to lunch at the Hydy on a friday. One of us will have a V1 with us there to plug in and check if it works.
