Mods advice for newbie on 07 GT

Hi folks, been enjoying reading the forums. Can't understand much of what's written (noobies) but picking up more every day. Hope we get to meet some of you soon?

Have had the (stock) 07GT for a few weeks now and really love the feel and look of the vehicle inside and out but rather 'underwhelmed' by the performance side of things. That's ok as we always planned to save up and do some mods such as an exhaust and proper tune but that's where our technical knowledge ends. Can the folks on here advise approx how much an exhaust and tune would be and what you would recommend the next few mods should be assuming you agree exhaust and tune would be first? Thanks in advance.

Anywhere between $2-4k for TBE/tune depending on where you go.

Cheers.

Wow, awesome looking car but then again I'm a little biased. So given that I can't do all that at once, what order should I go about it in?

There are a few ways that you could go about modifying the car, for example...

wider lightweight rims, better rubber
coilovers, aftermarket struts/springs
upgraded pads, rotors, calipers
tmic, fuel pump, exhaust, bcs, tune
Have a look at some of the workshops in this thread and have a chat with them.
They would have knowledge on what would be the best way to achieve the outcome you would like.

I'm still on the stock exhaust/engine, but have done mods elsewhere and increased the performance of the car (well at least it feels like I have ;)).

Happy modding :D

Cheers Soksta. W have been talking to one of those shops but being such a noobie I can't help being worried. The shop that we want to work with has a good rep so should be fine there. Should probably have been more specific but we are interested in getting your recommendations on what to do engine performance-wise along with exhaust and tune. We might be able to stretch the budget for another one or two things depending on cost but we have no idea what should come after an exhaust and tune on a liberty GT. Basically I just want it to have more power because its kinda lame right now. Even Camrys and the like hold steady with us :(

Quite a few people here have started off with just a new exhaust system, boost control solenoid, maybe a fuel pump (can be cheap insurance) and get a tune.
Depending on what top mount you have, it might be an idea to look around at upgrading.

I would say $2k would be a healthy estimate of what would be needed to meet you requirements, or perhaps just over.

rada 27-09-2013 09:43 PM

$2K for all of that? I was told the exhaust alone would be over that amount and with a tune it was going to be around 4K. Can you explain what a boost cs is and does?

$2k plus for a Norm Butler TBE ...

Would start at $2k at least.
It depends on where you get your parts from, if you source them yourself and get the workshop to install them, you would save some money that can be spent else where.

Tuning and labour is where I would expect a fair bit of the price to come from.

Some information on the bcs can be found here.

If you want to have a look at sourcing your own parts, you can look at this thread.
