Car Fuel?
Hey guys
First time poster/First time WRX owner... I recently bought a 2005 WRX and just wanted to ask what is probably a really stupid question :P What fuel should I be putting in it? 91? 95? 98 premium? Cheers, Luke |
98 nothing less

Is that just your personal preference because it's a 'performance vehicle' or is that what all WRX's take, even the older models? |
On the inside of your fuel cap it should tell you what the car needs to be filled with.
My car is an 08 WRX and it states that it needs to be filled with 98. Whether or not there is wiggle room there I don't know, but that is what I have always filled the car with. I've also had a tune on 98 premium now so wouldn't change. EDIT: Cap only actually states premium so you should be fine with 95 if you choose. As mentioned though I am stuck on 98 as that is what I'm tuned for. |

Pretty sure that only the STI states that it needs 98, could be wrong though!
Is that just your personal preference because it's a 'performance vehicle' or is that what all WRX's take, even the older models?
Had both the 08 and 11 model, both were recommended for 95 and I have been running 98 since day dot. No issues and IMO, the cost difference isn't that much to notice using 98 over 95. |
Subaru turbocharged engine...it runs better and safer on 98...else you will have carbon build up, knocking, and a damaged engine very soon.

95 will suffice, however, mine is tuned on 98 so requires that all the time. Personal preference even bog stock I would run 98 regardless |

No, you're right. I just had 98 stuck in my head for some reason. It actually just states Premium unleaded fuel. My bad. |

If you get the can tuned for 98, then you will need to run 98 all the time. |
thanks guys for the fast responses :)
So I'll probably run it on 98 and occasionally 95 if funds don't allow otherwise. Much Appreciated. |
