Hey all, I ended up trading in my 2012 WRX a while back as the payments and the 1.5 hour commute each way 5 days a week just didn't make sense. I am looking at getting back into a WRX again now that I have relocated closer to work and have my eye on two cars. I am going with dealer cars as I have a trade in I need to get rid of and I don't want to deal with the hassle of private selling my old car. The two I am looking at are below, with my preference for the 02 because of how cheap it will be with my trade in. The car has some issues though. 173k kms on it and the bonnet and front bumper need to be repainted. I test drove it last night and I noticed the belts chirping a bit (maybe the cold) and also noticed that occasionally there was this faint whimpering/whiney sound. Thoughts? The alternative is the 2008, but considering I am buying a house soon, want to keep this as low cost as possible. Appreciate everyone's advice.

Teejay that second one looks the part and is better price for lower miles. Its a dealer car which means I can trade in my other car. Will go check that one out tomorrow. Thanks

Depending where the hail damage is exactly it could turn into a very expensive fix. Bug eye STi's are awesome value for money though.

Don't get the 2008, especially if you're coming from a MY11/12. The TD04 will leave you frustrated as hell when it runs out of puff.

Yeah, will see how we go with the 08 but you are right, now that the 02 bugeye has shown up in better condition with lower kms for $2k less, I am going to go check that one out. My trade is worth 5-6k so I shouldn't have to throw much money in for the white 02 that Teejay posted

Spend abit more and you can get a Bug STi. don't bother with a standard WRX if you are willing to buy a car that old at that price range.

I wouldn't touch a Wrx below 2004. Either get an STI or a '04 model or above. There's a nice stock unmolested WRX 2004 for sale here on the forums for $14K ONO. Has 135,000 on the clock. Maybe check that out if you want a decent standard Rex?
