Default AVO 400 Series

Hi,

Is anyone here running one of the AVO 400 series, I am looking at the 400S for my RS, the only thing that puts me off is the high price....over $2K.

A these good bang for your buck, or would a VF34 or the GTPS01 be better..

cheers

maybe drop this question in mechanical so it gets more attention.

I would go with the AVO myself, I have heard good things abot it. But drop a search on rexnet as its pretty common over there.

how much boost can you run safely?

How much performance do you want? (qtr times....?)

How much throttle response do you want?

what turbo are you currently running and what do you like and dislike about it?

yeah sorta elaborating on what pete sed, you gotta sit down and think of what you want outa your car first, do you want High HP? or just something with a little bit more pep for street driving in that case go a vf or something similar. Just work out how much power u wanna make outta ur car.

if HP is the case for you, im sure some guys can shed some light on wether this turbo is the way to go.

They are over-priced - VF34's got to be the best bang for your buck!

Way overpriced.

Look at the FP or Deadbolt mitsu based turbos, they are cheaper and more efficient.

^^^^^^ Agreed with the two posts above. I think they are over rated and dont live up to the hype. I went to a dyno day when I was in vic at AVO of all places and made better numbers with my Vf34 equipped car with TMIC than a couple of their cars running the AVO400s and FMIC. I also drove the similar car to mine (Version 6 STI) with autronic, front mount and the AVO400s and wasn't impressed. Unless your turbo was dead and you needed to replace it, I wouldn't consider it an upgrade over a VF35 or 34.

I agree & disagree - a 400s is better than a 35, but not $1,000.00 better than a 34/35.

Good call Fred.

Fred and I compared the different the other day. Not a massive difference but if I saw a second hand 400s come up around $1200 I would jump on it. Retail tho is too much.
