Get better on price, and turn over some stock would help!!

It's cheaper to look on Gumtree and over East for parts etc.

Sadly FATSPORT was never really successful, and Japanese Wholesale Spares was never going to be either with Fats in control.

Drinking booze and playing golf rated higher than his interest in running the business.

I was involved in the building of the business from it's early days in Perth when it was owned by Darren and Tom.

I was also involved when the second owner (Brian) bought the business (September 2004), we relocated to larger premises in early 2005 and built the business to be very successful.

Not long after Fats became an owner (in September 2007) it became VERY CLEAR that the business was never going to be the same again.

I left in early 2008 when it was obvious that the business was struggling.

It is a shame, Fats was always a very good mechanic, but not a business owner!
RUSSGT and type25 like this.

If Fats took himself out and put his son in charge I think it'd have a good chance of surviving but he was sacked or quit not that long after starting.

He had the same attitude as Darren of - yeah it'll probably end up in the bin so take it cheap, then we'll have room for more stock whereas Fats sat on shit for too long trying to squeeze every cent out of each wreck.

Geoff, I thought Darren had the new workshop for quite a while and Tom was over the road before Brian took over, his slippery fat ex car salesman mate didn't do the business any good either.

No Tom

Brian bought the business when it was still in the small premises down the road and around the corner.

Cheers,

Jeff

I am usually a bit of a picky prick when it comes to customer service, JWS always seemed allright – didn’t knock my socks off but was acceptable level, in saying that – I knew what I want, called up to confirm availability and price, went in and made a purchase.

heh i love how everyone gets on their high horse and does the usual

"If i owned JWS , i'd do xyz".

If you don't like the service the simple thing to do is don't buy from them, go off and start up your own wrecking business or source it from somewhere else.

Personally, I've done business once or twice with Fats (after some drive shafts) and he's been very helpful in helping me find the right part. Sure it wasn't the cheapest option but it worked and had me back on the road that day.

Strange how people expect to pay near nothing for an item.

JWS charged me $15 for two front camber bolts/nuts, Subaru wanted around $85 and they had to shipped from Japan...
