mcintosh system question

hi i just got myself a 2004 liberty gt , i have notice the cd player is not working?
i was thinking of buying a second hand one.. could any tell me does this unit play MP3 cd?
i look on google and most people are saying it does not, could someone confirm this ?
has anyone try to hard wire a AUX plug to the mother board so the ipod can work?
also has anyone try a Tape Cassette to 3.5mm AUX Audio Adapter for iPhone iPod MP3 Player if so whats the sounds like? just trying to see what is the best way around this if this cd player does not accept mp3 thanks

Fuck it all off and just get a new head-unit. Seriously - too much hassle, why bother? A pretty decent head unit is 200-300, you will get features which are actually in this era and you can stop trying to make things work from the stone age.

Spend ~$1k or so and you can get a entry level new system throughout.

Drop it off at a reputable audio shop and tell them to take care of it and tell them how much you can spend.

It's not quite that simple with the liberty's.
In order to fit a new cd/dvd player you will also need to purchase an aftermarket double din facia with the seperate climate control (with the standard setup the climate control is actually integrated with the head unit)
These arent cheap, they generally go for around $300-$400, even more from some places. With a bit of luck you'll pick one up second hand.

Fyi i can confirm the macintosh cd players do not play mp3's

That's not a macintosh system. Standard stereo. It is a Kenwood GX-201KEF2 inside.
You can get replacement modules for the CD unit on ebay for around $170.
