I might ruffle a few feathers with this post but what the hell...
People on this forum and a few others keep "batting" for particular "tuners" with no REAL hard evidence that the said tune was either shit or really good. If you think the said tuner did an AWESOME job on your ecu, why don't you give us a dyno plot or even a screen capture of the ignition timing and fueling, hell why not throw in some AFR's and boost figures too? Frankly i think "tuners" have nothing to hide with their said tunes, it all comes back to "Experience" and alot of trial and error. I've seen some reports that tuners are locking ecu's and not allowing customers to view the tables, that to me seems like a good way to lock you (the customer) from seeing whats actually been done, which i think is rather scary. All this shit about "oh its crap..trust me" really pisses me off at times, cause its not actually productive towards the goal of better understanding WRX's etc. A few people here seem to be very close to workshops and im sure its all very "days of our lives" between each company.. why dont we just hire a dyno, have a few reps from each workshop with one common car and settle this shit once and for all.... (to which im sure will never happen) Pete. Last edited by Intra; 29-06-2006 at 05:33 AM. |

unfortunately most people dont know the difference between a good or a bad tune untill it goes *pop*
too many people assume that they drop a car off with a tuner for one day or an afternoon and expect the whole car to have been fully tuned. fact is that a full tune on a car takes days to weeks -full time- to get every parameter right. that includes cold start, hot idle, air temp compensations, engine temp compensations... the time and effort involved is huge compared to what most people percieve as being a 'tuned' car.

160kw atws without a ECU
And a 12.8 with no ECU will have to be a awesome driver man

Its possible. I don't trust dyno readings as far as I can throw them, and that aint far.
Yeah, but its still possible! |

And people contine you talk about dyno figures. .
Remember lots of gc8's have ran low 13's with just an exhaust so 12.8's with basic mods should be very possible, especially with ANY ecu and a reasonable tune Does the standard ecu tune itself when someone up's the boost with an ebc or mbc? If not, is it really be worth it? |
