Need a new Radiator for my 99 wrx , help plz !
Hey guys , the radiator in my 99 wrx is leaking from both sides of the cores ( only when hot ) ive checked all hoses and its definatly not leaking from those .
Question is would this radiator in particular : Full Aluminium Subaru WRX GC8 93 00 42mm Thick Alloy Radiator | eBay Be a direct replacement ? is the standard radiator 42mm ? I will be using the stock fans and shroud .. Basically all I would like to know is if this radiator will be a direct replacement to my stock one , from what I see it looks the same I just want to be sure before i buy it . Is it worth just going and getting my one fixed ? its leaking from both sides , which looks to be in exactly the same place at the bottom of the radiator where the seem meets . Any advice would be greatly appreciated , thankyou . Last edited by chris87; 10-02-2015 at 07:16 PM. |

That is shithouse.
Get a Mishimoto or Koyo replacement. Koyo Subaru Impreza WRX '94 00 Performance Alloy Radiator Free Shipping | eBay Yes it's more expensive, but take a guess why. You just don't risk your motor with shit radiators.

I know its cheap crap , but will it do the job atleast better than the stock radiator ?
My car has a vf34 turbo and I run 16psi high boost , I think I might have pushed it a little too hard that night ( natio run ) Should I just go and get mine fixed ? as much as I would love a mishi rad , I just cant afford it man =( ive got rego coming up in 2 weeks . Im looking for the cheapest alternative , im thinking if I fix it though it will just happen again ? Thanks for the reply mate . Last edited by chris87; 10-02-2015 at 07:21 PM. |

If you know it's cheap crap then don't consider it. Last thing you want is it failing, putting you up for a new radiator and coolant flush, let alone if the engine cooks and the head gaskets go. Spend a couple hundred extra now or gamble a few thousand later, your call.

Hmm true , its not worth the risk I guess .
Im Located in Sydney , where would I be able to purchase a new oem radiator ? and what am I up for price wise .. if anybody knows , I guess Subaru spare parts in Homebush would have one or could get one .. ill call them tomorrow . Im not in the position at the moment to spend $500 on a radiator unfortunately this happened at a bad time , the most im probably willing to spend is $250 and ill install it myself obviously , if I can get a brand new oem one for that price or cheaper ill be happy but im just wondering if an alloy radiator is the better option ? as I have a vf34 turbo and push abit of boost through it , will the standard radiator hold up to that ? If anybody could recommend a decent one on ebay for around that price that would be great . Its a 99 gc8 wrx Sorry im a big noob with subies its my first one =) Last edited by chris87; 10-02-2015 at 11:07 PM. |

Get quotes, we're on the other side of the country. Likely your local places will be a bit cheaper than over here too.
Call subaru parts with your VIN number, they may surprise you with price. Call wreckers, call aftermarket suppliers. Call your local subaru specialist mechanics, they might have parts laying around. Replace any worn/cracked coolant hoses while you've got the coolant out too, and use OEM coolant unless directed by your mechanic.

I wouldn't exactly call 16 psi a lot of boost, in which case, yes, a standard radiator would be more than sufficient.
