Just wondering if anyone knew the applicable rules/regs for fixed race seats and harnesses.

Do the seats 'go out of date' like the harnesses do?

How long can either be used until they are not fit for competition?

Yes, seats have dates on them...how the rules are applied however depend upon the type of even you're doing.
Check the CAMS manual for rules on mounting harnesses...ie angles allowed etc.
And having a chat with Ivan is a very good idea....

I saw some well priced OMP seats with rails that had a manufacture date of May 2004.


The confusing this with these regs - that newer, better safety equipment will not comply with regs, however the old, basic original seat and belt will comply....


I would say that I won't be entering anything higher than Rallysprints over the next 3 years.

We don't generally check the dates for seats at rallysprint, just that they are secure and their condition.

Harnesses get checked for dates, mounting points/angle and condition.

My girlfriends dad had these problems when he was given a donor 4 point harness.

He races a 1954 Standard 10 with stock seatbelt and put in a 4 point harness that was 4 or 5 years old and was told he couldnt race but can if he has the 61 year old seat belt on he can...

He just races with both on now... Just seems a little backwards.
