Sorry for necro - and double post - but did anyone get their vehicle airbag or whatever replaced yet?

In all my years of owning a magnitude of different cars and going through many recalls...I've never paid a cent for a recall related fix....Come to think of it...Never checked if they actually fixed the items either....

Yeah the manufacturer is meant to cover the costs of the recall, didn't know that until shortly after I made my original post.

Has anyone actually been contacted since the original letter? I have not heard of any replacements being done yet.

Subaru say they will contact owners as parts become available.
Remember, this recall affects 50,000,000 cars.
So, Takata, the company that makes the airbags, has to supply other manufacturers as well

Heard on the radio the other day that it may take well into 2017 before they get replaced. Obviously quite a few vehicles affected, but I wonder what happens to the company if someone gets injured in the meantime, especially after it was announced that Takata knew about this defect for years but didn't report it. They copped a $70 million fine for it.

My thoughts exactly and I heard it could be into 2019 before the recalls are completed. Considering how dangerous the airbag can potentially be if it is faulty and explodes in your face when it goes off instead of saving you then who is responsible and what comeback do you have in the mean time if it hasnt been replaced and they are knowingly faulty ??

There was also a question asked in regards to what if Takata goes out of business in the mean time and cant supply the replacement airbags. Then what ? Seems crazy that they can let you drive around in a potential time bomb but I guess what else can you do.
