Replacement bearing has arrived.

Obviously second hand but with it being AP racing it's an upgrade. Bonus!!

So the Competition Clutch Hydraulic bearing finally failed this week so the problem had to be addressed.

What an absolute nightmare. Gearbox has to come off for a fourth time on monday.

After the replacing the bearing for the new AP one and reassembling it turns out the AP racing bearing is too short and doesn't press the pressure plate far enough. So disassemble again, box off, fit a spacer and reassemble. This time it's too big and the clutch is permanently engaged. So off with the Box on Monday when hopefully a smaller spacer will do the trick.

Failed Competition Clutch Hydraulic bearing

Will take some pictures on monday showing the spacer arrangements

What a hassle.

I briefly looked into going a push conversion. And even asked Rally Sport Direct about the CC push clutch for STi like yours. They told me it doesnt even have a hydraulic bearing/concentric slave??? Looking at the pictures, it looks like Instead you have to flip your normal slave cylinder around and put some wierd lever contraption on to make the normal pull setup into a push. (Fuck that!) So then i looked into maybe getting my own concentric cylinder, looking on Demon Tweeks, And then i saw how many different sizes, lengths and diameters, and variations of cylinder exist. And that pretty much made me throw my hands up in the air and just get another Exedy.

Competition Clutch Subaru 04-09 ST EJ25Ti Pull Type Twin Disc

This picture is of my exact kit. Although the description is for a pull type. The bearing in the picture is the exact one i have. The clutch itself is brilliant. I got the new bearing working the other day but it wasn't quite right.

But the feel of the clutch was brilliant. It was just hard to get in gear and the adjuster rod was on by only two threads.

The plan was to put a 10mm spacer in and adjust the rod right back the other way. It turns out that the adjustment in mm on the master cylinder rod is not equal in mm at the pressure plate end and the 10mm spacer was just too big.

When the box comes off again on Monday I'll take some proper measurements. It'll get sorted it's just time consuming and bloody hard work.

USD to AUD conversion, US international shipping a heavy item like a flywheel/clutch, and then possibly import tax, would probs put it over $2K AUD landed. FWIW, I got this clutch delivered for $2100 delivered from Japan. Although no release bearing or spigot bearing inclunded. And i have absolutely no idea how the 2 clutchs compare?

The Exedy twin plate is a fantastic clutch providing it's not the carbon one. I had the ceremetalic one on my GC8 and it was very good.
