And round and round we go again.
My last comment on this. It wasn't reliable. I've fixed the issues which i inherited and caused the unreliability and it's been reliable for the 30,000 kms since. By any standards 30,000kms on a 600hp engine that sees close to 30psi most days is good reliability. Any Subaru engine builder would happily take that.

Come back to me in a few years if its still going and i will happily concede then that it is reliable. (Make sure you quote this so you can rub it in then.)

Yes this engine has been reliable, the previous two had issues which have long since been resolved. I can't believe you're struggling to get this. It's had issues in the past, now that I have resolved those issues the engine has been reliable why the fuck can't you understand that? For one final time, the car wasn't reliable, issues resolved now the car is reliable FFS it's not rocket science.

Well it's gone and grenaded itself only properly this time.
Not sure whats happened or what's salvageable yet but its safe to say its fucked. High boost high rpm failure. First confirmed casualties are two valves and one seriously fucked GTX35R Turbo. The heads off the inlet valves were sitting in the Cosworth inlet manifold! There's water in the inlets on the heads too. Really not sure what's happened yet as timing belt is all intact and all marks where they should be. I will post up more when I've got the bugger out and apart.

Oh fuck. Sorry to here this Daz. Even after our heated discussions on reliability, i never wanted to see this.
Do you think more dropped valves are possibly to blame? Or maybe a rod (or rod bolt) has let go. Those cossy rods are H beam arent they?

Until I get it apart I won't know for sure. Its the same cylinder as last time.
This kind of shit pisses me off though as I have taken every precaution for it not to happen. I've spent strong money buying the correct parts that are supposed to handle this level. I did have a theory about the valves just fatiguing but others have said that shouldnt be the case. I know someone with the exact same cam, valves and springs who regularly hits 8600rpm with 100hp more than I have and his has been together for years. There's no coolant in the oil when I've drained the sump so that rules out quite a few things. The difference between last time and this is that last time the failure occured at idle. This time it was high revs and full boost. This engine has done over 18000 miles on it so if it was a build issue it should have showed its ugly head long before now. There was no warning signs, no new noises, the car ran fine. It also used very little oil for a forged 2.5. Oil pressure was always good. So I just don't know whats happened. I'm hoping the block has escaped damage but Im fearing the worst on this one. Will hopefully find out tomorrow. I'll post my findings. If the block is damaged Ive decided to do a closed deck stroked EJ22T build (2.35)
