FYI - Speedo issue
An FYI if anyone else is searching with similar issues.
The speedo in my version 6 sti stopped working. All other functions of the cluster still function, lights tacho etc. I tried with 3 clusters in all. All showed same issue. Now for the weird part. The normal play of things is that the vehicle speed sensor would need replacing, but... my cruise control and anit-hijack are both still working. Both are connected to wire 10 in the i12 connector on the back of the cluster, less than 10cm from green connector. Cruise engages and hold speed perfectly, never drops out. My anti-hijack can sense the car is moving and will lock the doors correctly every time. Anyway, the solution was to disconnect the cruise and anti-hijack from the i12 connector and presto, the speedo started working. Through a process of elimination I found it was the anti-hijack that was somehow messing with the signal on the wire just enough to upset the speedo but not the cruise. Anyway, solution was to put a diode in line with the anti-hijack and it all works again. No idea why the anti-hijack was suddenly having the issue. Thought I would share, and perhaps this will help someone who is having a similar issue and may save them replacing the speed sensor unnecessarily.
