Dyno tune in warm weather
Sorry if this has been covered, i couldnt find it in this forum.
I have read a bit on other forums but want to see what ausies reckon. I just got my tbe exhaust (not installed yet) and will need a tune for it. But the warm weather is here now. So if i do it now will i run lean in winter? What was the weather like when you guys got your tunes? Do you think its worth worrying about? Il probably give MMS a ring and see what they say. Will update then. |

Booked in for next thursday.
They dont think its anything to worry about. Mabey its a bigger problem in places with a bigger temperature difference between summer and winter. |

Without having actually checked the afr's to confirm, I am pretty certain mine did richen up during the peak of winter here in Kal with the 1deg mornings/nights. Wasn't an issue though performance wise however, I felt sorry for people behind me as it was f*cking stanky

Forgive my ignorance, but why do our cars run richer on cool days? I was thinking cooler denser air =leaner AFR.
lean or rich does reffer to the quantity of fuel in a given ammount of air right? |

The more air there is the more the ECU can add fuel.....
There is no fixed ammount like the old days of carb's |

Universal gas law applies. 4 variables. Weight. Pressure. Temperature. Volume. Know 3 and you can calculate the 4th. Change 1 and you therfore change the others.
-Volume is fixed by engine displacement. (Well technically this is actually a variable too, as volumetric efficiency changes the effective volume of air the engine consumes. And VE changes from engine to engine, depending on mods. And even changes across the RPM range of an engine dependant on things like AVCS, whether the wastegate is open or closed etc) -Pressure is boost. -Temperature is affected by the ambient temperature of the day. ( and many other variables like turbo efficiency, if you size a compressor correctly so your operating in its peak efficiency range, it produces less heat on the intake air. intercooler size and efficiency aswell etc). -Mass is what the ECU needs to know so it can inject the correct mass of fuel to meet the target LAMBDA.
