Exhaust pops and explosion sounds

Hey

i am one of those guys who wishes he had antilag but doesnt. But i have a way of producing very similar results with a bit of effort. I am not sure if its my exhaust but theres a thing i do with the accelerator pedal, and i just want to share it with everyone.

Driving in second take the car upto approx 3500-4000rpm (this is wicked for when your slowing down), then lay of the accelerator and let the revs drop slowly, now this is the vital part. As the revs begin to drop around and just before 3000 lightly touch the accelerator on and off and on again (it should lightly interfere with the revs dropping but no acceleration). For really good results do it in second going downhill so the rev holds at 3000. Also in the wet you get some crazy explosions.

When you get the touch right it awesome scare the hell out of other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians (not that i do that :))

laugh out loud

Put an external venting blow off valve on, accentuates it moreso.......as well as killing any fuel economy :D

EXPLICIT 18-08-2006 02:26 PM

when cruising with rob caps he used to have a knack of getting some kick arse explosions just as you exit the tunnel.

spec 04 18-08-2006 02:30 PM

impreza_GT 18-08-2006 02:32 PM

I do this up my street when my Clubsport driving neighbour is out on the street, to show him how a 'real' sports car sounds.....

swan-dogg 18-08-2006 08:23 PM

don't do it infront of under cover coops, they like to put defect notices on ur ride and don't like being beeten when merging, trust me

He he i raced a undercover car didnt realise untill i got finned doing 37 kays over the limit .. :laughing4

DarkMoose 18-08-2006 08:27 PM

I've antilag'd many a cop that has pulled over another car on the street, booze buses etc and have never got a defect notice. Mind you i have never given them a chance to pull me over after doing it :)

Clint 18-08-2006 08:36 PM

You guys are a laugh.

nicksrex 18-08-2006 09:01 PM

I dunno when that happens on my car it dosent sound like its any good for the car. sounds cool though. abit contradicting but oh well

tuna 18-08-2006 09:03 PM

i believe bakks perfected that technique !

Andy 18-08-2006 09:13 PM

lol bax was just clutch in and mash the shit out of the throttle....external venting bov, open zorst and a stock ecu meant 'ooge flames

joey89 20-02-2007 06:09 PM

Take your cats out or get a atmo bov!

Sorry was meant to be in exhaust 'burble' while slowing down thread :(

Bakks 20-02-2007 06:40 PM

There was actually a bit more skill to it than that Andy :p

can anyone give a more technical explination of why this might be?

chalk me up for another person who LOVES the over-run sound. shame to hear its bad for the car...oh well...excuse for an upgrade i spose.

kristian90 24-02-2007 02:02 PM

you should hear n1cK his car pops through every gear no word of lie its just normal ahahahaha

MKVIGTI 24-02-2007 04:21 PM

I do not condone this at all as is potentialy unsafe with power steering and steering locks but worked a treat in an friends dad's escort. ( This was 15 years ago mind u)

Throw it down a couple of gears so reving near redline. Wait about a second or two. Turn of ignition. Wait a second. Clutch in. Restart car.

Be prepared to replace the exhaust in extreem circumstances. Very nice bang.

Very bad for the car.

He destroyed many an exhaust on telstra's work cars back when they were whoever they were before telecom.

I repeat I do not encorage this at all. :D :D :D

TopGear 24-02-2007 05:55 PM

lol Keybanging! only works with carby engines though, turn off pump gas peddle couple times start back up BANG!! :p
